Little horrors (can't be rude here)
What to do in today's snowflake namby-pamby world is a hard call
You know what you want to do (quite rightly) could land you in trouble
Do what you can as long as there are no witnesses ;)

Go round and steal their bucket.

If you see a bairn on the way tell her something that she'll misunderstand to cause her family to get in to a comedic fluster.

This week's whimsical update. UK sales of marmalade surged by 18% during September, according to market researcher Kantar. Something to do with the death of the queen, apparently. ;) How strange that a spurious connection with a lost Peruvian bear can make people do that sort of thing?

Not there's a character I'd queue up for if they were lying in state
But I really do hope that he's got a good few decades left in him
Even if the wellies were added by Jeremy Clarkson's parents (so he'd stand up as merchandise)

I know a lot of people will know him from the Harry Potter films, but peak Robbie for me was Cracker (1993) and I see that all three series are available for free on the ITV Hub for anyone that missed it the first time around, or who perhaps wants to reacquaint themselves with the superb cast, and the brilliant stories from Jimmy McGovern -

Great show - they cast every one of the main characters perfectly.

I was always struck by just how bloody massive Robbie Coltrane seemed from a distance; it was only when you got closer you realised he was only about 6' tall

Quite shocked to hear he's gone

A strong contender for the 'Video of the Week' award here, showing people aiming fireworks at the Queen Elizabeth II bridge protesters late last night -

It's just a shame all the HIMARS are in action elsewhere at the moment...

Winter is coming. To Canada anyway.

Ulan Bator at -18 seems to be the current coldest city on the weather map, though it's on the latitude of the far south of England (+14 here just a little inland - I've been out twice today always in shorts, sandals and t-shirt). Something about that continental climate, but also the Gulf Stream keeping us anomalously warm for our latitude.

Come to think of it, November 1985 (when I was in Bavaria) never reached freezing. It remained below zero the whole month. Though some of December got a bit warmer again.

I was in Bucharest in November 1977, when they had a very cold period, lasting several weeks.

Let's not forget the winters of 1961-2 and 62-63, when it froze on Boxing Day and the thaw came in March. There was still concern about global cooling in the 1980s.

Haha that's right eh? As late as the early 70s school-children were being shown films stating that we were all going to die in the impending ice age. I recall (quite literally) wondering what the point of studying at school was when we'd all soon be dead. That and the Russian bombs, that had us drilling crouching under our school desks on weekly bomb-drill.

Phhh and now, apparently we're all going to fry to death. And have to be heavily taxed to save ourselves. Hahaha....

Sulphur Hexafluoride is used as arcing suppressant in high voltage switch gear. It is man made.

Made me wonder...........we haven't heard from dspp for a while. Has he gone away?

Sulphur hexafloride gas is also frequently used in eye surgery.
If you have the misfortune of a detached retina then after it has been stuck back in place with cryogenics and lasers, a gas bubble can be put in the eye to hold it in place during healing. One of the common gases used is SF6. It dissipates naturally and will have disappeared after about a month.

Shorts and t-shirt on not merely by day, but last night, before arriving back home around midnight.

Neither was I the only one. Sitting thus clad on the low wall in the grounds of a school (just before my event started there at 7:15), the sight of so many shapely teenage girls' legs going about their business there provokes a chap's inner Dirty Old Man.

What were you all doing there so early in the morning. Do you help run a breakfast club?

PS <John Cleese as barrister> Yes m'lud, his eyes never strayed any higher than their legs. The fact that he would like two hundred other cases taken into consideration is entirely immaterial. </John Cleese as barrister>
