Not sure if this is acceptable here but I must say that on the face of it at least, that was quite an admission by Iran that they brought down the Ukrainian airliner. The cynics will have their own take on it of course but it surely puts them on the back foot now.

De-escalation of the problem that Trump caused, although it may be that the Americans will see it differently.

Was it? I thought iranian-backed terrorists had attacked the US embassy in Baghdad and fired rockets into the green zone before the General was swatted.

If it were a classical war the US taking out an enemy general wouldn't have raised an eyebrow. As Iran (wisely) chooses to conduct their war on the US in an asymmetric way it is only appropriate for the US to fight back accordingly.

It would have been nice for President Trump to have explained this in advance to his allies but he is clearly a complete moron so it wasn't to have been expected.
