Here comes Brendan....
Storm Brendan has hit the west coast of Ireland, with forecaster Met Éireann warning of "several hours of very dangerous weather".
A Met Office yellow warning for Northern Ireland is in place from 10:00 GMT to midnight, with the storm due to make landfall early afternoon.
Gusts of 75mph (120km/h) are expected on exposed coasts and hills.
Already this morning, gusts of up to 60mph have been reported in Belmullet, County Mayo in the Republic of Ireland.
The Met Office has warned that travel disruption is likely and coastal areas may be affected by large waves.

It's picking up nicely outside, and looking at the 'Windy' website link below, it looks likely to get a lot worse before it gets better -

Batten down the hatches!

Re: Here comes Brendan....
One hour to go before the big stuff lands on us, and it's getting interesting down here in the softy south west. Our neighbours have got the roofers out this morning, trying desperately to get the tiling finished on their very expensive new triple-sized outbuilding, before the wind gets under the felting and rips the whole caboodle away into the distance, roof trusses and all. I don't think the roofers are very happy about it. Looks a bit draughty up there.
BTW, that windy website is pretty cool. Wow, the colours, man. Early Pink Floyd, I think? (Check out the Waves tab.)

That website is cool - designed by 'Liquid Len' I think.
Just like dropping a couple of tabs at a Hawkwind concert. Probably.

Quite a wind and very wet here in North Wales. We've been to a funeral so of course for this the weather was perfect.

Re: Here comes Brendan....
I spent today motoring from Cornwall (1130) to Kent (2200). Lots of stops along the way. It was gusty the whole way but the majority of debris on the roads was in Sussex (mainly small branches). It's true though that the A30/A303/M3 stretches would not have been a fair comparison as the trees are mainly away from the race track.

*Sussex you might ask? Yes because Hophead is brewed there.

Agree, it's a cracker, thanks IAAG.
Have to say I was shocked to find out Will and Meghan are stepping down. Oh, is this the wrong thread...

Indeed! thanks greatly for that, it's really well done.
I'm staring at it just now willing the little fast guys in the Bass Straight to come past and blow away the cancer air in Melbourne.
Other window open on http://aqicn.org/city/melbourne/ which I also only discovered this week: does real time air quality for most places on the globe (the exceptions being those places without sensors e.g. Russia, or with a tendency to commercialise the data, USA)
keep safe everyone (e.g. don't go and fix the antenna if the reception messes up)
