Port and lemon, a drink that used to be very popular back in the day. Can't remember the last time I heard of anyone requesting this tipple in a bar or anywhere else for that matter.

Aaaah, port and lemon. Thanks for the memory. Takes me back at least forty years, when there was some pretty awful stuff still being marketed as "port". (As kids, we were allowed a glass of the sweet stuff at Christmas.) These days, ordering a port and lemon is like declaring that you still listen to your old Santana LPs - it fixes you in time, and everybody laughs at you, and they check to see whether you're wearing flares.

Not forgetting rum and black; lager and black (which is fairly close to snakebite); Cinzano bianco; Blue Nun; after-dinner liqueurs; and of course, the appalling Dubonnet, which was briefly owned by my former employer, Cadbury Schweppes, before they realised that flogging alcohol was not really something a quaker company ought to be doing.

I once had a girlfriend who could down a Bacardi and black in 20 seconds. She lasted about a fortnight. Nice, but unaffordable. Thanks for that memory, too!
