Wasn't it beautiful? :)

As things progress, this is demonstrating much more starkly than in the past the bureaucratic inefficiency of our public health system, including the NHS. The trouble it has sourcing necessary kit such as personal protective equipment, and the procedural hurdles to accepting offers from the private sector and from universities. Not to mention the obviously-particularly-useless plonker who appeared alongside Gove on, I think, Monday.

Perhaps one outcome could be some measure of de-politicisation of the issue of long-overdue radical reform there?

Yes, the plebs should stick to Margate and perhaps Billy Butlins holiday establishments instead of clogging up Ulhuru for us normal folk.

Problem is that travel and tourism have become totems for the life well-lived for 'normal folk', a sop to the drudgery of modern life and a sign of status to be posted on social media etc. Since the new millennium the world has seen:

SARS 2002
Bird Flu 2003
Swine Flu 2009
MERS 2012
Ebola 2013
Zika 2015
Covid-19 2019

As a species we're playing Russian Roulette and unless we change our behaviour it's only a matter of time before the chamber contains a live round.

A zoonotic pathogen. Something with a long incubation period, infectious , and deadly. Probably from West Africa or China
