A Lockdown Birthday for a 13 Year Old

Postby AsleepInYorkshire » May 22nd, 2020, 10:27 pm

My daughter is 13 today. It's been a very low key day for her as she hasn't been able to mingle with her friends or look forward to a party. She's been for a socially distant walk with one friend and baked a cake for me this afternoon with Mum who took the afternoon off.

She's had lots of presents and the usual armoured car has pulled up with money

We've three days over the bank holiday weekend to spend time with her which will we are all looking forward to.

Oh did I mention she baked me a cake - yup it's my birthday too. But I'm not going to mention my age :?

I expect you're at least twice her age.

... but you don't look a day over 93.

Happy birthday.

I'm 65 on Monday. I've got enough aches and pains already.

Maybe she will get a visit from Dominic Cummings?

We had a 9th birthday yesterday. She was really excited about it (all weekend), and we spent the day indoors watching films, eating popcorn and building a Lego Technic set. She made her own Minecraft themed cake and chose mussels and chips for dinner (couldn't do that with most of her friends!). It was to be the first party since she'd started a new school, and was going to invite lots of new friends, but I think I was more disappointed for her than she was herself. You get fewer presents if you don't have a party, but at least that means the floor doesn't look like a bomb has gone off!
