See SpaceX and ISS tonight

If sky is clear tonight, watch SpaceX chase the space station:

Lots of people are asking about timings for tonight's spacecraft sightings. For the UK:
Space Station, 21:20 (look west, right of the moon)
SpaceX launch, 21:33 (watch here: https://nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/#public), then about 21:50, it will be following the same path as the ISS over the UK.

Let's hope that SpaceX don't use the Tesla Autopilot to get to the ISS

Well, the Dragon got there last time :) Unlike Boeing (if it's Boeing I ain't docking).

Apparently NASA have a way of calculating risk, risk of mission failure and risk of loss of life. The NASA acceptable risk of loss of live is 1 in 270 and they calculate that risk for this mission to be 1 in 276.

I just noticed ITV4 is showing Apollo 13 tonight. Hope that's not a bad omen!

Maybe this should be elsewhere but as it started here - For All Mankind is a very interesting new TV series based on the premise that the Russians landed on the moon before the Americans and the subsequent ramifications. The fiction is mixed with fact - lot on Nixon's reactions etc - no more spoilers.

A quick look on Google says it's made for Apple TV which I don't have. Do you happen to know any other ways I might watch it? Thank you.

For anyone interested in this kind of stuff, Everyday Astronaut's Youtube channel is worth keeping an eye on:

Then apparently it came past again circa 2200 when it WAS dark.

I learned that at 2300...

RC - I accessed the App through Amazon Prime - however I have to say last night I tried to watch episode 3 and it would not allow me to watch stating that I had to subscribe directly to Apple TV. Trying to establish whether the first 2 episodes free via Amazon Prime were a 'teaser' or there was a fault last night.

Sunset tonight in west central Scotland is 21:45 - so 22:09 is early twilight.
London Sunset is 21:04, Dover is 20:56

The sky in the Midlands was pretty clear last night. I got my binoculars out to watch it. I downloaded " ISS Detector " app for android. The ISS will be visible (weather permitting) at 22:09 for 6mins 24secs.

RC - indeed the first 7 days free - then a monthly or yearly sub - £4.99 per month. There are 2 series of 8 episodes each - so clearly best to watch a couple 'free' and if you like then the rest in the following month - not expensive for jolly good series if initial promise is fulfilled.

Nothing visible here in central Scotland, still too bright with a light haze too.

I use the ISS Detector App. It notifies you before the event and also shows you the trajectory with a built-in compass, updated in real time. Idiot-proof. Fortunately.

Seen it about 3 times this week, including tonight. All from Suburbia and its light pollution - very visible.

NASA have a 'live stream' website, and will be streaming the re-arranged SpaceX launch on Saturday night.

The Saturday (30th May) launch is planned for 8.22pm UK time (launch coverage will start from 4pm UK time)

NASA live website here -

Cheers,
