But sugar in tea makes me gag. I am sure I can actually *smell* it as the tea approaches my lips.....and certainly even just a grain on the edge of the cup makes me a bit queasy.

Aaah, happy memories of a greasy spoon caff in Birmingham where I'd bought a mug of tea. "Do you take sugar?" the assistant asked as she handed me my tea.
"No," I said. "Don't stir it then," she replied.

When I gave up my dad sometimes used to do that (as he'd forget). But it's amazing that even then I couldn't drink it and would get a fresh cup.

I do not know what happened to my taste buds but one day I was drinking tea with my usual one spoon of sugar and suddenly decided it was horrible so not I drink tea with sugar now and I do not think I could. I agree with Bedfordtea. What do you mean by 'best tea'? There are so many different teas that 'best tea' would be impossible to define I would have thought. I had them carefully explained to me in Sri Lanka earlier this year but I now forget.

It beats the usual "I've found this really good x/y/z whatever shop online - check it out !"

I'm sorry I must protest in the strongest fashion.

This is outrageous!

The best tea is Yorkshire Tea

Grown somewhere in the dales? Or on the moors?

I was staying in the Hotel Mandovi in Panaji, Goa, in the 1990s and discovered that the urn of tea contained both milk and sugar. Fortunately they would do you an unblemished poit on request.

Immediately, or when they got a round tuit?

I used to take four lumps in tea. And coffee. The sugar crisis put a stop to that. But I still take sugar in custard.

The man who was on hand would do it pronto, his round tuit was in his hand.

My wife uses splenda in her custard. That's about the only place we use a sweetener. I suspect the same cannot be said about the syrup sponge and custard that I had at a local pub for lunch yesterday. But I don't care.
