Yes neither of Spain or Italy want to get people in the box, it's all about long shots typically straight at the goal. If England can get there it will be an interesting final.

Quite hard to tell whether Spain or Italy would score more goals against Denmark in the final.

:D

Would you happy if he came to your team?
6 league goals last season
A good championship player, but doesn't cut it at the top level

Yes. But we couldn't afford him.

Regardless that isn't the question that was posed. Which was "has the world gone mad?"

30 goals in 82 appearances for Chelsea. 23 year old England International.

There are numerous clubs in the European leagues, not all of whom will qualify for the lucrative Champions League. Do you really think it "mad" that there is possibly one club that sees such a player, and values a 5 year deal at £34m? If it means a 50% chance of additional revenues > £100m that would be logical, not mad, surely.

It only takes a single club to take that approach and the valuation is justified. More than one club and it will be higher. Is it possible football club owners and administrators know more about footballer valuations than you do? Or is that "mad"?

so let just see how many he bangs in for Roma this year

Those are your words not mine. I have never made any claim that you, or anyone else for that matter, knows "sweet FA".

Your question was has the world gone mad, it wasn't how many goals will he score for Roma next year. Frankly I have no idea.

All I have demonstrated, hopefully, is how a valuation of £34mio is possible, and can be justified by the clubs concerned. Whether in hindsight that valuation proves to have been justified or not will be interesting, but without hindsight irrelevant.

"Gone mad"
was a flippant comment about yet another example ( and there are dozens out there)
where exhoribant sums have been paid for (insome cases mediocre) footballers
a few examples here

Exorbitant fees are possible in part due to billionaires' financial backing for the clubs. My club has no such sugar-daddy but most of the bigger clubs do.
Players' fees and salaries ensure there is very little left as profit for most clubs.
