Character
I have often wondered what posters are like ‘in the flesh’ When Gengulphus’s demise was announced I was surprised to say the least with his physical presence, for instance.
There are some whose mental attitudes are fairly easily discerned but what they look like in the flesh? Well who knows? Do I really want to know?

Re: Character
If you want to know, attend a TLF social. I only went to one but it changed my mind about a couple of people here.
As for Gengulphus, I cannot infer that from a photo. I always got the sense that he was not one for social pleasantries and frittering away time on trivia, but rather sought only serious discussions on meaty topics. He carefully restricted himself to topics within the relatively small number of areas where he had an interest (HYP, taxes, legal, puzzles - I might have missed a few since I do not visit every board).
But yes, it is fun to speculate on what Lemons look like based on their contributions here. I have a few ideas on a few, but will keep them to myself.

I used to look like this;

(no, the one on the left..)
Sadly time hasn't been kind and the hair has retreated, so I'm sporting a 'grade 2' and a few more wrinkles

Re: Character
I reckon that I look a bit like Martin Gilbert (he of Standard Life) but not as craggy nor as "well padded" ( bodily and in the wallet department! ).

Re: Character
I have very mixed feelings about this which is why I posted. OTOH I would like to meet people and on the other maybe it is better not to know and leave them as an image in my imagination.

I met many Fools (Motley and Lemon) at the London socials. We also had a Reading social years ago.

Re: Character
On an overseas project I was in regular email contact with a UK based colleague for a period of 2 years. I formed a visual image of him from this correspondence.
He then came out to visit the project and of course looked nothing like I had imagined.
The interesting thing was though, that after he had returned to the UK and we resumed email contact again, over a period of a few weeks my image of him reverted to the one originally formed rather than the actual.

Re: Character
have a go at this
https://starbyface.com/
wasn't impressed by my attempt
Very loose interpoartion of who is a celebrity
this one
https://www.creativecareernow.com/celebrity
matched me up with Di Caprio (I'll take that as I'm nothing like him)

And me George Clooney! Methinks this particular bit of AI features a very large over-the-top flattery quotient!

I fear the lady doth protest too much.

Re: Character
Robert de Niro. There seems to be a predictable upbeat theme to these suggestions. Surely somebody must have been told that they look like the thing from the black lagoon? Quasimodo? Hannibal Lecter? The Walking Dead?
BJ (who actually looks like the third jedi from the left, minus the costume, of course)

I sometimes picture MonsterMork like this, emerging oil covered from an inspection pit after poking slightly too hard at a rusting oil cooler during an MOT test.
I think 88V8 is really Slim Jim Phantom from the Stray Cats, and I picture Hal as having the intellect of Sheldon Cooper, dressing like Rincewind, and having a beer with Lemmy.
