Re: Come on England
In celebration of my various antecedents, I shall be toasting Scotland's inevitable glorious defeat with a wee nip of Welsh single malt and an award winning English white.

As usual you guys have absolutely nothing to lose and can turn up in the certain knowledge that if you win or draw England will be humiliated.
Should be a great sporting event though. And Wales over-turned Turkey so no bets are off

Re: Come on England
This Welshman is hoping that the Scots are hammered, preferably with yet another example of catastrophic goalkeeping that we've learned to expect.
Maybe even a more comprehensive stuffing than their famous 3-1 loss to Peru.
Looking forward to see Nicola Sturgeon after that, no doubt with a look that could curdle milk at 10 paces.
That said I did put my £5 free bet on Scotland at 10-1 as insurance. Hoping to lose that one.
Also hoping that there's no trouble after the match. That said it's unlikely, given that Central London currently hosts over 20,000 drunken Scots, singing of their hatred of the English, who are not going to take a loss well.

Surely the lockdown rules will prevent any trouble. After all, it's difficult to hit someone from six feet away!

Ha, yes, I read a post a while back about a bloke in the supermarket queue wearing a tee shirt which said on the back, "If I turn around and punch you in the mouth, it shows you were standing too close".
Amused me at least...

Re: Come on England
Are the commentators aware there is a football match being played, or are they just happy to have a good blether among themselves?

Back in 1975
England beat Scotland 5-1 at Wembley
In those days my local pub was the last pub back form Wembley before the motorway back to Scotland
A coach load of scots pulled into the car park,
my two friends and I feared the worse, so tried to drink up and leave but too late
we were surrounded by about 40-50 Scottish fans who sat all around us
They had the biggest whip round the teenage me had ever seen and proceeded to buy us drinks all night !
What a fabulous night it was singing and dancing, they weren't going to let a defeat ruin a good night out
We were amazed and what a memorable night it was !

Re: Come on England
The way England play - trying to be Barcelona without the skill, is so irritating I'm tempted to support the Jocks.
Foden - is he in drag this evening?

Fielding a Liverpool defender against Jordan Pickford and nothing to lose? If only.

Re: Come on England
Well after this "showpiece" I think I can congratulate Scotland, and put some perspective for my home country :
England I believe can beat anyone in this tournament except for Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and possibly Sweden.
I should advise that I tend to be over optimistic in my hopes for my home country.

Well I think slightly differently. England does seem to play poorly against UK nations. Their heart is not really in it to smash the opposition. Bring on France or Germany (assuming they get that far) and they will be more spirited.

Good game.
Fair result.
I don't think so - I thought England were lucky to get a point from that.
The only real ambition on that pitch was being shown by those in a blue shirt...
Worrying for England that their worst player continues to walk out with that yellow arm-band on......I think we're going to see what Southgate is made of soon enough....
Cheers,
