Stamp Duty presses decommissioned
HMRC's Stamp Duty press machines will be officially retired from service on 19 July 2021
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/end-of-an-era-as-stamp-presses-decommissioned-by-hmrc?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=govuk-notifications&utm_source=ff808bdb-060d-42c6-9612-06d3e9730428&utm_content=immediately
The presses are very heavy, weighing 685 kilograms, and will require careful handling and strong flooring. They would be ideally suited to museums or financial institutions with sufficient space seeking a historical focal point for their building. Any organisations who may be interested in rehoming a decommissioned stamp press from HMRC, contact …

Re: Stamp Duty presses decommissioned
Perhaps thirty years ago, my next-door neighbour who was a keen engineer and retired from the National Physical Laboratory and had an interest in old precision machinery and knew t'management at the Science Museum... somehow managed to acquire a decommissioned banknote printing press from the Royal Mint.
As I recall, there were two of these things, the Science Museum took one and he the other to save it from scrapping.
Like the Stamp Duty press, it weighed ... a lot... and he had nowhere indoors to put it but he had recently disposed of his 2 litre Lagonda that had been mouldering for many years in his front yard awaiting attention - he had a lot of things awaiting attention - and so using the space, he built a substantial shed behind the yard's pair of double gates.
Some years later, having afaik done nothing with the press other than put it in working order and pat it now and then, he was visited by staff of the Mint who had got wind of this unofficial arrangement and were rather concerned as to what he might be doing with it.
He passed nine years ago after we had moved away. Clearing his house which was stuffed to the gunnels with artifacts must have been a challenge, especially rehoming this press.

I visited that website, expecting some kind of joke, c.f. Monty Python 'Two sheds Jackson'. It actually looks a brilliant idea!

If you can't get a second hand printing press, then buy a new one to install in your shed, like these guys

But nowadays you only need to cobble together the IT skills to do a crypto currency scam, so no need to clutter up your shed with tiresome hardware.

Men in sheds? How about (male) students in a (v. large) breeze block 'shed' in the garden of their student flat in the 1970s?

I was a great fan of The Magic Roundabout, but I don't recall a character called Flossie - are you sure you're not thinking of Florence?

I was thinking of Florence - i.e. "Flossie".
Really, I was guessing. I do not know now if their computer was named after Florence, it just sounded plausible given the period and that they were students.
