You can tell I live in North London
We've got the local builders in at the moment painting and repairing the outside of the house. At the end of our road is a caff, and a bakery selling filled baps, sausage rolls, pasties etc: a regular independent Greggs. Oh, and a kebab shop.
So what have the builders just had for lunch? They got a takeway from Planet Organic in Muswell HillL falafel wraps with quinoa salad.
"How was it?" I asked
"OK, but I had to pay an extra quid for the guacamole. Bloody liberty"
We're all doomed

To balance things up, the first ever Wetherspoons was in Muswell Hill.

The second was my local in Crouch End (although it had ceased to be a 'Spoons when I moved there in the early 90s - an early failure?)
I think the two nearest survivors of early culls were the Tollgate (shudder) and one up Stroud Green Rd?)

I'd just like to make it clear that I was not the OP.

A takeaway? How disgustingly proletarian.
Here in Rutland, the brickies have Michelin-starred chefs in toques. At 12.00, the hod carriers change into full waiters livery.
The fully organic food is prepared on site with fresh herbs plucked from the exquisite herb gardens between the EMC cement silos.
H&S now restrict the traditional allowance of one magnum of Lafite Rothschild per person just to those working on buildings of 18 storeys or less.

Well seriously my nephew, who had made ludicrous sums setting up and running a hedge fund and was a complete foodie, got a Michelin starred chef downfrom his favourite London Restaurant, to cook a meal for his builders as a thank you when they had finished the extensive works to his medieval manor in Oxfordshire.

Sorry Leo, for taking your name in vain. Hope you don't mind.
To explain to others who may not know, it is from the days of TMF.
Can I have your permission to put on my gravestone: "See: told you we were all doomed. Leo" ?

Another failure was in The Broadway, West Hendon.

Crouch End
Don't know if still true but there used to be so many therapists in the area that it was known as Couch End.

Yup, you can tell people who live in North London.
Not that they'd listen.

Talking about guacamole - there is the story about Peter Mandelson visiting a fish and chip shop in Hartlepool many years ago and on spotting the mushy peas on display asked for " haddock and some of that guacamole".

“But the guacamole story is not true I’m afraid. Great story, but not true.
“The story actually applies - as I explain in the book - to an American student helping out in the Knowsley North by-election in 1986, who walked into the fish and chip shop, pointed to the mushy peas and said I’ll have some of your guacamole as well thanks.
“Now, mainly, but not only thanks to Neil Kinnock, who thought it was hilarious, the joke was applied to me.
“I worked for the Labour party from 1985 to 1991 as the campaign director and at my leaving do he solemnly presented me with a large piece of fish and chips and mushy peas wrapped in the Daily Mirror, and said enjoy the guacamole.
“And from that moment on the story was transferred to me.”

Re: You can tell I live in North London
Meanwhile you can tell that I used to live in North London because I once opened the door at 2 am for a neighbour and his friends, all dressed in clown outfits. It was Matt Lucas.
And you can tell that I sometimes lived in the less salubrious parts of North London because the only time I met most of my neighbours (different house, different neighbours), was when someone got shot in my back garden.
