Now that Covid19 has faded from the news somewhat, lots of bad news to fill in.
It's happened before when, for the sake of my own sanity, I make a point of missing news bulletins on TV and radio.
It's that time again now.
I haven't helped myself here. Over the weekend I read in the ST supplement mag the simply horrific story of the treatment of indigenous children at the hands mainly church funded European Canadians. Devastating and most of the crimes have gone unpunished.

Re: Time to turn off
Wise move!
I was watching an interview with Tucker Carlson (Fox news US presenter) a few weeks back who freely admitted he didn't own a TV and didn't watch the news. What surprised me were the number of people who were surprised that he didn't! I thought it was an open secret that a lot of TV personalities don't watch it, similar to the Silicon Valley tech execs who don't allow their kids to use social media.

I watch the news and read a daily newspaper. What we need to remember of course is that bad news makes the news.

"If it bleeds, it leads".
I do agree about switching off the news. I used to listen to, and enjoy, the Today programme on Radio 4. Now I mainly listen to Radio 3 which does make me feel less agitated.

Re: Time to turn off
Over the last 18 months there have been times when I avoided the news - and avoided listening to UK Government ministers pronouncing on the pandemic - but I did listen to quite a lot of what the experts and public health officials said.
