JD Wetherspoon has signed a new 20-year supply deal with AB InBev's Budweiser, marking the end of a four decade-long arrangement between the pubco and brewing giant Heineken.

Or to paraphrase, 'Watered-down cat's p*ss to replace semi watered-down cat's p*ss.'

Notice the beer in the picture? Does that look like watery lager? ;)

Then they dare to put Leffe Blonde in the same list with the others. Is this real continental Leffe Blonde, I wonder?

Steve

PS Just a few thoughts with tongue slightly in cheek.

Leffe is a Anheuser–Busch InBev 'brand' as you probably know!
Spent a fair few hours in Café Leffe in Brussels- my least favourite place for a beer in that fine city
(Is A la Mort Subite still there??)

Will this affect the real ale offering? Perhaps not.

Well, the article says Heineken are no longer supplying any draught beer to Spoons. So you'd imagine inasmuch as you used to see Theakston and Deuchars in Spoons, you'll now see Draught Bass, maybe Whitbread Trophy?

That Gordon's can be very good, I recommend the Gordon's Xmas ale --- very nice! quite how a tartaned-up scottish beer ended up being (superbly) brewed in Belgium currently escapes me....

I was recently in Texas. At one point I was sat in a Chinese restaurant, drinking a Japanese beer, that had been brewed in Italy.
