Wish it was slightly cooler here today - don't mind warm weather if I'm sat in a chair drinking lager and listening to music, but sat in the office (dining room) with no aircon isn't good. It's South facing too.

Roll on Christmas  My badness

The sheer volume of fuss the BBC have been making about this worries me. Yesterday and today I'd estimate perhaps 10% of the whole of BBC news programme output has been articles about extreme heat, some useful but most utterly banal.

it's a distraction. Normally when there is something really important newsworthy happening we can usually count on someone in the Royal family to ride to our rescue with a photo-shoot banal alternative but what with the only other news item the heats for a new prime minister the media has come to our rescue by featuring the hot temperature.

I have seen some excuses in my time BUT
an note on an ebay purchase says
"Due to the extreme heat warning, deliveries may take longer than usual."

It is a small package

Roll up a bandwagon and someone will jump on it

Yeah but.. perhaps the wee package needs to go on a big train that's got to go really slowly because the rails are a bit soft or bendy, or on a plane that's stuck to the runway? Or perhaps it's just one of those "stand on a butterfly" and next thing you know there's a fascist in power chaos things - and they're being really cautious?

Anyways it's probably wise to try and manage expectations - have you seen how some people react to being unexpectedly inconvenienced? (especially if it's a tad warm)

Good points
It's comimg from China so I didn't expect a prompt delivery and they did say expected 12-19 Aug
It just felt a bit of a feeble excuse when coming all that way doesn't need further explanation
