Calming sounds to help you sleep -Warning!

Okay, tongue-in-cheek, but true story. I often fall asleep listening to Spotify and last night, I decided to try some 'Waves crashing on a shore -seagulls- type of stuff to get me asleep faster. Both sets of grandparents retired to the coast and, apart from a glass of whisky being poured, I can't think of a more relaxing sound. ;)

Woke up approx 2am from a dream about being on holiday and listening to the sea from our balcony.

Approx 3am, woke up and heard what I assumed was a storm approaching. Then realised it was from my earbuds.

Approx 4am-ish, bloody nightmare! People running around a castle on a hill, panicking and crying, waves crashing against the walls. I looked up to see a giant wave about to engulf the whole castle. Thinking back, the screaming people were probably the seagulls.

Woke up and pulled the earbuds out.

I admit to having a vivid imagination and dreaming a lot, but no more bleedin' waves for me. The nice soporific sound of air rifles going off and seagulls hitting the ground, perhaps. 8-)

Surely after 3 hours or so the tide would have been well on its way out, and the waves would have stopped crashing?!

OMG, you're right! My Poirot-like reasoning is not that sharp at 3am.

I wonder if perhaps the 'Sounds of Waves crashing on a beach' was not actually in real time?

They'll do anything to get you to upgrade your subscription! 8-)

Tonight, I'll try 'Leonard Cohen sings the greatest hits of Barry Manilow.'

Though what a nightmare that would cause!

Could perhaps be worse: waves crashing and splooshing and getting nearer and nearer, with you trying to get away and can't.
And then you wake up and find that you have wet the bed...

Funnily enough, apart from books, headphones, earbuds etc, the bedside table next to me is usually cluttered with half empty mugs of decaf and glasses of water, so in attempting to put my earbuds back in the darkness, I occasionally do upset some liquid and 'wet the bed'.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it! 8-)

I knocked my swollen pickle off mine last night when I put my kindle down. No harm done as it was still in its box

Not quite sure what your 'swollen pickle' is, but it sounds painful. I imagine it would be unpleasant if you hit it with your kindle.

If the ointment and the box don't work, maybe you should see the doctor again. The new corticosteroid creams are very good.

Are they some updated version of what used to be called custard creams?

Custard creams will work just as well.

Bourbons will also work, though they tend to be more uncomfortable and leave more crumbs.
