Just got safely to Gatwick airport after an awful journey.
For about 15 miles of m25 it was being buffeted around while someone constantly threw buckets of water at my windscreen. Visibility non existent at times.
Its the most unsafe driving conditions I can recall experiencing.
Lots of people sleeping on the floor when I got to departures but so far no indication of delay to my flight, though also no indication it'll be on time either

In Scotland, just north of the Central Belt we had very high winds last evening and night and a lot of rain but nothing worse than the usual 'January Gales'. We used to have these on a regular basis so I think that has little to do with climate change. There is an awful lot of fuss made about 'named storms' and all that these days.

Calm at the moment but with a promise of more to come.

It is the middle of winter.

Winds last night in rural west Wilts were gusting over 80 mph, the second worst I've ever heard. (Worst were in January 1990, where about 30 tonnes of my garden wall collapsed.) We're due to attempt a 15 mile journey today, but the lanes are axle deep with flooding in one direction, while the main road in the other direction is closed by fallen trees and power lines all over the place. I guess we won't be making that trip, then?

Isha was nowhere near as bad as I was expecting, we've had far worse in the past with fences and apple trees blown down, glass blown out of the greenhouse. Last night we had a wheelie bin and a shrub in a planter blown over and that was it. The Erskine bridge a few miles away is often shut due to wind, but I think it was open all last night, though nearby Glasgow Airport apparently had some flights diverted.

What I have noticed this morning is a distinct lack of birds in the garden or flying overhead. Very few of them, even though we just have a gentle breeze.

West Mids...

We were lucky - just one small pot-bound holly bush knocked over by the wind (not for the first time this year). A little bit of rain last night.

The usual media garbage. Mid January, nothing going on, so let's make a big story about a few windy days.

We had a loss of power so the biggest issue is getting all three oven timers back in sync. Some of the smart devices have also played up so might need resetting.

Went for a bimble and noticed lots of bits knocked off trees and a few big branches down. The was one big tree down didn't see any bodies under it.

Did get a text saying they were aware of the power disruption and a number to ring if there were medical implications or to ring 999.

To be fair they are normally quite quick getting your power back up and running.

Fortunately the timing was not the worst it could have been. Managed Sunday lunch etc so it was off to bed early with no lecky blanket.

Could have been much worse. The mobiles still working providing info and light helped might have to ensure they are topped up as part of future prep.

Not had to do longer time without power for a while. Heating, candles, cooking in mess tins etc oh and a baby boom come October

Damp squib here.

Yesterday and last night also damp, but only moderate rain, and bright&sunny by morning.

No problems here though friends in a village near Chester had power cuts but only for about 3 hours.
