Do you snog your dog?

I'm in a pub in Tunbridge Wells (as well as online). There's a guy, maybe in his thirties, with a girl, similar age. Between them they have one of those rather stupid looking dogs, tiny, with eyes that look in different directions. It is clearly the centre of attention.

This guy alternately rebukes it or shoves his face in the dog's face and seems to get great pleasure in mutual licking of tongues.

It makes my stomach turn, but a morbid fascination prevents me from looking away.

Dogs eat [expletive deleted]. Could he be trying to acquire that vitamin that has to be taken as a supplement if one is vegan with impeccable hygiene?

PS They've gone. Good.

Once lost my dog ( border collie ) when visiting my daughter in Cheltenham. Took it for a walk on a local park. Doggie had never been to a park afore and was frightened and sped off. Searched and searched and just could not find. The dog always comes back to me on a call, but alas not this time. Later retreated to daughter's so as to enlist her assistance. A convoluted route that I found difficult to re-establish.
When back at daughter's, who was laying underneath my jeep ! First and only time I have kissed a dog. How did that dog find it's way back, I know not.

I seem to recall reading that it's some kind of puppy behaviour. Exchanging saliva with its parent is a normal part of its socialisation. (It says feed me, mummy, among other things.) :x https://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/health ... me-so-much

It's one thing if a dog's owner is fool enough to continue the tradition in trans-species form. But I've had to fend off friends' dogs which were trying to do the same thing to me. Much more of that, and they'll be ex-friends. Harrumph.

I don't have a dog, but I've kissed and been licked by plenty - though never french kisses!

I've been licked by a giraffe tacking food from my lips - any advance on that?

Yeah, yeah. Baboon, killer whale, white rhino, snow leopard. It's all the same to me.

But only a dog has ever expressed any profound interest in my groin. There are some things in life to be grateful for. :|

You've never been introduced to an elephant, then?

We have two dogs, having seen what they sniff, lick, chew and generally stick their noses in I would NEVER allow a dog to lick me anywhere. Yeuch!!!

We have an adorable Cavalier King Charles but I completely agree with you! But the vet did kiss her full on once. I would have thought he would have known better!

Your late teens and twenties must have been very different to mine.

Paul

I was going to add "and much more perilous", although looking back, perhaps not.
