I'm no cunning linguist, but that's how I read it.

What a strange name for a mountain.

Not, perhaps, as strange as this one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twmpa
or this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloody_Dick_Peak

We don't have mountains around here, but the highest peaks in Devon and Cornwall respectively are High Willy and Brown Willy.

Damn, it's far too long since I've been in real mountains  Haven't done anything more exciting than Dartmoor since before lockdown! And getting to an age where I really ought to go in company when off the beaten track, just in case of a medical emergency. :o

The one where I can have a great day out with a young lady, without being a bit of a dick.

Next question, please.

A combination of high tides & strong winds turned the river into sea on Saturday

River, or estuary?

Is that purely a footbridge, or does it take anything on wheels? And there appears to be a person standing on it: whoever that is can't've felt threatened by the weather!

River, or estuary?

Definition...salty water? It doesnt really open up into a traditional estuary as it's controlled by man made structures

Its fresh water at the bridge most times (I think!)

That bridge is designed to take emergency vehicles. We went across it not long after the pic I tok on to the dunes to the left. That was about an hour before high tide.We left soon after in case we got stuck (not in danger, just stuck to the point where it would be socks n shoes off)

The missus sent me a couple of pics from Social Media closer to high tide

In this second pic, we had previouslywalked through the gap you see in the dunes in the middle of this picture. By this time it was more than socks n shoes off though.

Just back in from a walk, nice for it not to be windy for a change. Surprised so many leaves still on the trees.

It's been a lovely day today. I've spent almost all of it tidying stuff up in the garden.

We've spent the last couple of days in Fife/ Angus in torrential rain... and we travelled there and back via Tomintoul/Braemar/Glenshee/Blaorgowrie - mainly because of the horrendous delays on the A9

And it was a case of down in the snow....back in +10 degrees and green landscapes. Never a dull weather moment in Scotland!

Just a wee test of the new Pixel phone. For some reason, I had to take it from whatsapp (sent to myself and then dragged n dropped on Flickr, rather than uploading directly to Flickr from my phone. It's probably some sort of authentication issue or something.....

The beauty is in the desolation Leo. Even the surface of the Moon was pretty to Buzz Aldrin.

For some reason, and I really can't imagine what it might have been, I'm reminded of Bill Bryson's account of how they named the Teton mountains in Wyoming.
At any rate, the French explorers who passed through northwestern Wyoming took one look at the mountains and said, 'Zut alors! Hey, Jacques, clock those mountains. They look just like my wife's tetons.'

Isn't it typical of the French to reduce everything to a level of sexual vulgarity? Thank goodness they didn't discover the Grand Canyon, that's all I can say.

Of course we've got the Paps of Jura closer to home.

(There are three of them. Someone must have been watching Total Recall.)

Scott.
