I almost dropped in a reference to your experience in the Campsies, but I thought some Christmas charity was in order. :)

Thank you for reminding us of that little bit of jollity. This lockdown is so enervating I haven't produced so much as a limerick in recent times. :(

Kind-of confirmed when I went to delivery tracking for an order due to arrive today.

***FRI 4TH DEC 09.50 - Due to adverse weather there are currently delays to Scottish deliveries.

Nothing "interesting" here, except the river is running (moderately) high after rain yesterday evening and night.

While over in Edinburgh they had Thundersnow last night. Which woke up a lot of people who phoned the police, thinking it was an exploding bomb.

sd, I'm getting a fine optical illusion there. Looks like it almost reaches your ceiling at the top!

Probably arising from a culinary illusion (or clash). It's not compatible with the cereal I just had for breakfast.

(pretty sure the illusion would go away if the whole photo fitted on the screen at once so that top was balanced by the bottom).

Beautiful, sd! Every 10 days or so I have one just like it on my kitchen counter too. I find the prepping of sourdough very relaxing and the reward - the crusty end slice of the fresh loaf slathered in butter.......yum!!

Indeed it's good for your soul - not so good for the waistline

will say that using a basket has made it all so much more consistent

Nice photo, but the video is a letdown after that. Quite apart from shakiness, it would be much more impressive to see either free climbing or whoever put up that rope than someone just attached to it.

I've got a good head for heights but there is no chance you would get me up there. Some people are mad.

I don't need to watch horror films - anything with heights gets the full stress response...
2020 was going to be the year I tried to deal with this using a gradually increasing series of walks/scrambles
That didn't work out well.

I didn't do that ledge, but in 2016 attempted to scramble up the cable to the summit out of season. With ominous looking grey clouds and sleet falling I got about two thirds of the way up the cable, then chickened out. You feel very small and vulnerable up there, a good 1km above the valley floor on this sheer expanse of rock. An almost matchless location...

[EDIT: It's a cable not a chain. Slippery in icy weather  Here's a pic (hosted at youtube):
