Bigdish (DISH) sailing today a bit

Had noted this MrContrarian post below... plus some other comments elsewhere, plus a recommended buy on British Bulldogs, so was keeping an eye on it. I'd already bought some at 1.67p in November so topped up a few today.

Buying @2.15p and @2p selling today.

Bigdish (DISH) H1 loss £1.1m (£0.4m). Cash £1.3m, sufficient to Q3 2020. New CEO says "It is my expectation that 2020 will be a turnaround story for BigDish and our shareholders."

Notes (do rely on the data)
DISH: Price=1.5. Cap=5m. F/C for current FY*: EPS= NA, Prospective PE= NA, Revenue=NA.

Keep a close eye on this little outfit. It's currently not just sailing, but trying to orbit. At what point is such a trajectory going to turn?

Buying at 3.40p and selling at 3.1p as I write

Always helpful to provide a link (to assist the close eyes):

https://www.londonstockexchange.com/exchange/prices-and-markets/stocks/summary/company-summary/JE00BG12QT70JEGBXSSQ3.html?lang=en

If you can access and on the off-chance you haven't seen it, Paul Scott covered them in his:

Small Cap Value Report (Mon 30 Dec 2019) - DISH
https://app.stockopedia.com/content/small-cap-value-report-mon-30-dec-2019-dish-541561

At the time he concluded:

Therefore this stock is my favourite highly speculative share for 2020. Definitely not for widows or orphans though.

Found this today at Investing.com under this title

https://uk.investing.com/equities/bigdish-news

BigDish PLC (LON:DISH), a food technology company that operates a yield management platform for restaurants, said it was informed on 18 February 2020 that two directors made purchases of shares in the company on 17 and 18 February 2020.

This one has been quiet for some time due to covid, but is on the rise again. Maybe as people start to think about eating out again. The interesting thing about this company is that the costs aren't really theirs but the restaurants presumably. They are just filling seats. My daughters age group had just bought onto this idea of getting sometimes heavily discounted restaurant food just before covid hit.

The restaurants are all supposed to be re-opening around the 15th and will only be able to take reservations, so an outfit that helps them fill seats will be just the ticket IMHO. I've just topped up on these as they are around the 2.5p mark again, so filling my boots whilst they're still so cheap. These were moving towards 4.5p when covid hit and had been 9.2p last year in June... we'll see.

I had to go and have a better look. That was at their peak. They were over 6p from 30th May 2019 until 20th June last year. There were two other lower peaks in September last year and in February this year before covid hit. I would imagine 'in season' to coincide with people wanting to eat out in good weather. Don't suppose that will happen again so easily, but maybe they will be all the more more desirable if all seats in restaurants have to be pre-booked.

In these post covid times, it's anyones guess really.

(Disclaimer that I happen to like volatile shares for their zig zags).

The company looks substantially under resourced to me for a Technology rollout. Presumably to gain traction in their chosen markets they would need to spend a substantial sum on marketing and they just don't have the cash to do that.

It looks to me like it was floated too early and turnover was a measely £12k at the halfway stage.

I know you like trading volatile smallcaps so good luck with it but it's not for me.

I actually don't think I do 'like' it very much on the high volume shares as it's so very stressy at the outset, but it's extremely lucrative when it works well. The initial buy part has to be liberally peppered with safety nets and stop losses in case the SP pings the wrong way in spite of reading the graphs carefully. Less so once the stop loss has been moved to above the buy price though. However, this bigdish share doesn't move very fast which is much nicer (and perhaps safer) than the faster ones.

Nice update today, Share chat forums all estimate a 6-10p share. We'll see who emerges from this pandemic in time.

Not this time.... More like sailing down the swanny today @1.5p

Covid I suppose... at the wrong time when they'd just begun their UK growth plan.

So either a buying opportunity or a bad investment. Time will tell.

Press release out today

https://www.investegate.co.uk/bigdish-p ... 00043267T/

It doesn't look like the sort of arrangements of someone who's not working hard to make this work under this covid pandemic.

I'm keeping a close eye on this because I've bought well with this share so far.

Enough cash to last to December, and not clear where revenue is going to come from to cover expenditures for some while. Employees already being paid in kind through equity it's almost certain to need a placing or injection of some sort, so dilution seems inevitable for holders.

Got to think this is a binary outcome, multi-bag or bust, with more likelihood of the latter I fear. Depending on liquidity and spread there might be opportunities for trading this for profit, but not one to tempt me I'm afraid.

Well let's hope not the latter because the young CO appears to have a past track record for such things. His timing with covid was very unfortunate but they seem to be striking deals with some larger corporations that do takeaways so it really is a 'watch this space'.

Another RNS this morning, and acknowledgement of the volatility in the share price.

Pizza Hut sign up, but I think the current pricing model is £0. It will be interesting to see how many restaurants, and importantly, restaurant chains are on board and active when the charging starts.

Good luck. Not one for widows and orphans as the saying goes.

There's been a very good innings on this share and I'm out for now until life returns to some semblance of normality. Nobody is going to be eating out that much till the covid risk goes. I'll get re-interested if it gets around or below 2p again.

And it's goodbye to the CEO, and moving work from India to the Philippines to save money.
