Hi,
My mum died 7 years ago. My dad dealt with her estate at the time. But not very well as I have subsequently discovered :(.

I have just been contacted by Equiniti to tell me she is still the registered owner of some Lloyds bank shares. They tell me her holding was:
X number of LLoyds Bank Ordinary Shares.
Y number of LLoyds Bank LBGSA Ord.

Can anybody tell me what the difference is please? What are LBGSA ord? My googling skills have failed me.

Thanks,
Gryff

Are these possibly Lloyds shares held in ......

Lloyds Banking Group Shareholder Account (LBGSA) ยท Equiniti Financial Services Limited (EFSL) acts as custodian and execution-only stockbroker for your shares.

Do they offer valuations or shareprice for the 2 holdings?

But they're both held by equiniti. They told me about it. Are they the same shares in two different wrappers? Presumably so they can charge me twice for transferring them?

No prices yet.

I'm wondering if they were scrip dividend shares which have been accumulated somewhere different? But I've already received some outstanding cash dividends. But only six payments. Nowhere near the 12 years they said they have been unable to contact her. She moved house c12 years ago. But the letter informing me of these shares was sent to her new address. So they obviously did know where she'd moved.

Lloyds did a complicated series of rights issues round about the time of their takeover of HBOS. That also coincided with a general financial crisis. They cancelled the dividends for some years. is it possible your mother had been both a Lloyds and HBOS shareholder?

It's possible. But I don't think so.

Aha. Just spoke to them.

The initial shares were her certificated holding.
The LBGSA shares are indeed a transfer of HBOS, held electronically.

If I can transfer them to my name (separately), then I can merge them so I only pay once to sell them.

Thanks All.
