Could you expand, did you sell your SMDSs at £4.xx or were you buying Mondi on the dip. I did think swapping out of SMDS at a market high was worth it to save the potential admin and lull to release the SMDS money to be redeployed but it's in my non traded portfolio.
I have the pair of them and don't feel sad about that.

I suspected all along that Mondi could not afford to up their offer very far. As it was offered it was a 55/45 merger. Much more offered and it would have effectively been Mondi shareholders as the minority. So once IP came on the scene and I could sell a tad under 400p, then I did so. Not often I get a call right like that. But this one was a good decision.

Gotcha, yes there was an opportune 50p to be had by selling on the news and now DS Smith is linked to the price of International Paper whose sp has fallen 10% over the month SMDS is about the same as it was before both offers broke. A great bit of timing.

Re: Smith(DS)
Because of my top-slicing policy (adopted from Terry) a top-slice was indicated for me as SMDS was at 395.616p. So I too benefitted from the goings on, but of course through no skill of my own. The proceeds went into topping up BT and VOD. C.BullDog wrote:Well done BullDog. Played this one superbly.

Both look at 5 year lows. Both would fall foul of my pick list as I mostly buy UK shares for increasing income. Good luck with those two.

You will have seen from viewtopic.php?p=659189#p659189 that I acted last week, when SMDS was over 412p. A fortunate bit of timing, but had SMDS never gone past my 1.5 times the median holding weight, it would never have happened.
This seems to happen quite regularly, Admiral being my most recent case. As it happens, ADM is heading up again.
As long as IPC has a London listing, I'm happy to let nature take it's course.
