Scottish Cup first round 21/9/2019
Fort William 5 Vale of Leithen 0
Maybe we should transfer our sympathy to Vale of Leithen - currently bottom team in the Scottish Lowland League.

One win in 10 matches is still par for the course but with 5 games in hand on Lossie, the latter must be quaking.

I've no idea why FWFC have played so few but could it be down to the weather? :D

Fort William should feel proud of the pleasure they provide for supporters of all the other Highland League teams when playing Fort William. Its almost like a well-done Civic Duty.
And for the first game of 2020, they visited Wick (my wife's home town), and were duly clobbered 4 - 1.
And some interesting statistics from that game. One Wick player scored his 50th goal in 659 appearances, and another scored his 200th goal in 550 appearances. I wonder when they draw their pensions.

Ahem - Is no-one going to mention the match against mighty Clachnacuddin (away) earlier this evening?

I’ll leave the correct spelling and pronunciation to you guys.

Lossie must be a tremblin’.

Yes but where's the celebration of FW's draw the other week, away in Banff no less? Not the Canadian Banff of course, that would have been a trip too far.

They go nowhere probably. No demotion from the Highland League.

Snorvey wrote:No demotion, correct. And the highland league is short of a team anyway.
The powers that be have implemented a pyramid scheme where the league winners get a chance to progress to the Big league - that's what happened to champions Cove Rangers last year. Cove haven't been replaced as yet.
Fort Bill always have a ton of games in hand because FW is permanently underwater from October to March. You should see their April match schedule.

And Brora fancy their chances on going up this year - so potentially leaving another vacancy. So I am certain that Lossie is safe - and at the end of the season they may be able to proudly maintain that they have replaced Fort William as the bedrock of the Highland League. And my wife wishes to extend her thanks to Lossie for the largesse they showed to her home team (Wick) a couple of weeks ago.
But getting back to Brora - a dozen or so years ago they used to be propping up the bottom of the Highland League, but now in Friday's Groat (John O'Groat Journal) the Brora club chairman has declared that progression to the SPL is their aim.
So there's maybe hope yet for Lossie and Wick - or even Fort William?

Brora found someone with mair money than sense and good luck to them.

Yes - I'm inclined to agree. I remember some years back Brora poached the Wick manager, only weeks after he arrived.
Wick have now got Beatrice Wind Farm as their main sponsor - which may improve their finances.

Neck and neck after 45 minutes. I don’t mean up to their necks. Must be all over by now but have been unable to find the score.

There’s also the 6 Nations (unless you are avoiding it this season).

Once again Forts pitch is underwater and they've asked to come north to play their home game against Lossie on the Scottish Costas, such is the importance of the game.

This is a real crunch game. I might even go and watch.

I said might.....

Sounds like a good reason to go to the match ;)

Where's your live Twitter feed***, direct from Grant Park?

I can only find the half-time score.
