Cricket.......at last.

I was wondering why so few sports programmes from yesteryear were being shown on TV, at the moment, cricket and F1 motor racing in particular, but just shown on BBC was the Windies tour of 1984, the Lord's match. Botham takes 8 wickets, Gower fails twice, oh dear, a brilliant double ton from Greenidge.

Quite a few lbw decisions, given out immediately, no humming and hawing, no consulting the square leg umpire, just the finger up straight away.

Those were the days when little boys ran onto the pitch to field the ball, before it actually went over the boundary. I remember working at Old Trafford, as a teenager, selling Cantrell and Cochrane orange juice, at a Windies test. Charlie Griffith and perhaps Wes Hall, I think on the team.

The presenter said more matches to come.

Thanks for posting that, I would have missed it otherwise. A lot of dodgy LBW decisions back then, with the benefit of hindsight from present day technology.
