Australian Open tennis

I watched most of the BBC highlights and it took me some time to realise what was missing - and I don't mean spectators. There were no line judges. The line calls were made by hawk eye technology in real time and the umpire supervised everything. And I saw no player appeals either. One commentator remarked that anyway, there would be no point, since you would be arguing with a system which had already made the decision. I thought it was very impressive and an indication of the way top level tennis, and possibly other sports, will be in the future.

A similar thing has happened with cricket with the 3rd umpire calling no balls instead of the on-field umpires, who had basically stopped calling them.

A huge alarm rings around the stadium to announce to everyone that a no-ball was delivered.
