Re: Spurs Sack Nuno
You've got to feel sorry for Spurs. The one season when they finished higher than the other members of the "Big Six", they got pipped for the title by a 5,000 to 1 outsider. Whilst a rather fluke'ish progression to the Champions League final also ended in silver not gold. Always the bridesmaid; never the bride.
Nuno won his first 3 games so he was presumably fired on the basis of just 14 games.
Still, there was always 1961.

Re: Spurs Sack Nuno
Spurs have had 16 managers (excluding caretakers) since Terry Venables left 30 years ago. Pochettino lasted the longest and was a good manager in my opinion. Maybe Spurs should have appreciated and backed him more. Difficult to see that Mourinho or Nunes brought anything better.

Shame they can’t sack Harry Kane. He obviously doesn’t want to be there and is a waste of space at the moment.
They can’t drop him from the team or his sale value drops. Just have to hope a deal can be done in January.

Re: Spurs Sack Nuno
Why is it when the team does well it's all about the players
and when they are bad it's the manager
Come on.. they couldn't even get out of 1st gear against [expletive deleted]
and for the first 2 minutes yesterday they looked keen, but if soon faded

They won't be able to sell him on current form. He's half way through a 6 year contract being paid £200k p/w (£10.4m p/a).
Only a top 6 club or champions league EU club can afford that. And none of them will pay as he has only scored 1 PL goal so far this season, and that was against Newcastle, which as in relegation is like against a championship club.
I like to think his form will return at some point for Spurs and England, as he is an exceptional talent when he is in form.
Cheers

Re: Spurs Sack Nuno
He was well liked at Wolves (by the fans, anyway)
Some poor results later on probably due to injuries and a small squad size
I think we'd welcome him back if Bruno decided to go

As a non-football fan, I find it curious the way football clubs prefer to sack the manager when the players keep losing, rather than the players.

"non-football" is that like Rugby League or something?
Anyways think of it this way....
if there was one kid in a class that couldn't read, or write, or do sums then you could probably make a good case that it was them that was the issue
If the class as a whole were completely incompetent then it's probably the fault of whomever is "in charge"
same with football (and probably government )

A decent manager will remove troublesome players. Fergie was never afraid to deal with a player he saw as a problem no matter how big the name.

Very true.
Perhaps he learnt that approach after being sacked for his "too big for his boots" behaviour at Love St
- still he did a great job at Aberdeen

Hard to sack players (but you can drop them). The reality of Transfer Windows, and to an extent player contracts, make it difficult to recruit replacements other than at specific times. That is considerably less of an issue with managers.
