I do not watch a lot of snooker but watched last evening’s match. Amazing snooker from both players but sadly I will miss the conclusion of the match today. What a contrast to the previous evening’s. Last evening the standard was incredibly high and the pair seemed to be enjoying themselves, smiling and appearing quite relaxed at times. The contrast with the previous evening when Mark Selby and his opponent seemed as miserable as sin was such that I switched it off on Thursday’s match and settled down with a book. Anyone with any interest in snooker should watch the conclusion of the match between Si and Bercel this afternoon. They are both incredibly good players. I would be surprised if Si does not win.

So I am surprised. An amazing come back from Brecel to win.

I missed it sadly so cannot comment any further.

Luca Brecel played with almost superhuman nerves to beat Selvey yesterday. A great final - I'm not a snooker fan but even I could see he was exceptional. In previous appearances at the Crucible he'd not won a single match!
