Been listening to TMS quite a lot recently and have to say it's far better with female members of the team. They all know their cricket and the banter with eachother is amusing and not excessive. Isa Guha is also very pleasing on the eye.

I think you need a very high-end radio to take advantage of that

I think Ebony Rainford-Brent talks a lot of sense.

I'm old school. Can't beat the John Arlott and Brian Johnson era. There was a time when a brake in play was something to look forward to but not now.

Not sure that kind of repartee would work these days, JA retired from TMS 43 years ago.

I disagree. John Arlott's style of commentary was far superior to the inane chat we get these days. The score seems to be unimportant.

A good few years ago, I was sitting on the bank at the Wagon Works Ground in Gloucester when Arlott was sitting on the same bank, with the radio van behind him, giving his commentary. I was too far away to eavesdrop, but I can imagine how it went.

I wonder how he'd have reacted to "Bazball".
