No luck with the Duck
Favourites working normally, so I'm here... but in Chrome and Firefox, this morning when the Duck is asked to look for anything, after a long pause it returns the response 'There was an error displaying the search results. Please try again.'
I made Chrome work OK by resetting the browser to factory. Haven't tried yet with Firefox.
Anyone else having a problem?

Re: No luck with the Duck
Same here with W11 and up to date Chrome/FF so clearly something ary at DDG's end...
I use Startpage (anonymously proxied Google search) as my default so you could switch to that until DDG comes back to the land of the living...

Yes I had the same thing when searching for 'Royal Mail'. I had assumed it was something to do with the latest update and the improved privacy settings, but I can still access the Fool, bbc, etc. but not via the search option. So good to know it is not my local problem.

Yes - DDG Search is currently not working
https://x.com/DuckDuckGo/status/1793557968027570527
Affects Bing and other Bing-based search engines too apparently

Just to expand this a little:

Yes everyone is having this problem. It's due to a major outage for Bing at Microsoft, and apparently the Duck relies on Bing APIs.
https://www.theverge.com/2024/5/23/2416 ... go-chatgptSearch capabilities for ChatGPT, Copilot, DuckDuckGo, and other platforms aren't working properly right now due to a Microsoft outage that appears to be related to the Bing application programming interface (API). Sites and services are either completely unavailable or only intermittently responding at the time of publication....
...Other search engines like DuckDuckGo and Ecosia, which rely on Bing’s API, are unable to load any search results. Microsoft’s Copilot is also experiencing similar issues, displaying a loading loop that prevents users from accessing the service.

Re: No luck with the Duck
I noticed too.
It is interesting that several people here noticed that The Duck had gone AWOL but no-one reported that Bing wasn't working.

According to https://www.statista.com/statistics/216 ... h-engines/:
Google currently has approx 82% market share
Bing is at 10.5%
and DuckDuckGo is in 5th place at 0.67%
We must be unusual in here!

More paranoid than the average soul, certainly.
My wife uses DDG because she is convinced the man is after her. I don't care who knows what about me and so use Google. Maybe there are still people using Yahoo for search?
