^^ Did you only get the ethernet powerline plugs not the combo ethernet/Wi-Fi ones?
You could always add a compatible TP link RJ45/Wi-Fi plug upstairs at a later date, put it on the same 5GHz SSID as the VF router.
If you wanted to run a third party router with more settings controls at a later date you should be able to ethernet out of the ONT box.
It was discussed on here a few years back WRT a Vodafone fibre install/3rd party router, I think they used PPPOE in the end to get it working correctly.

They are doing a good job. I have been lucky. I should be able to set up the old Plusnet router as an Access Point upstairs, but Wi-Fi coverage seems to be OK already. I will probably do it an educational exercise, if nothing else.
