Budget external monitor for older MacBook

Further to my earlier thread 'the black screen of death', where my 2016 MacBook Pro developed a screen problem which makes it unusable but the laptop itself is working as I found out when I hooked it up to the tv and it still gets all the security updates. The battery is wearing out but it works fine when attached to the mains. I thought about getting it serviced, get the screen fixed, maybe get a new battery but not keen on throwing much more money at the thing when it cost so much in the first place. I thought a cheaper way to proceed is to get a new monitor to plug it into and use it as a desktop in the office at home as well as a backup for the new laptop.

Does that sound sensible? Any suggestions for an inexpensive small/medium sized monitor? This one looks reasonable. Cheaper would be even better. I have a USB-C to HDMI cable if it doesn't come with any.

DP to HDMI isn't an issue - it can be done passively (not the other way around which requires active cables with chips).

It sounds like it's at the stage where I might be tempted to replace it for normal use but leave it on the network to access remotely (if there are jobs you can leave it doing)

Do you live close to any charity shops? Used moniters seem to be ubiquitous in most of the charity shops I go into and £10 is not an untypical asking price.
