iPad's divided/split keyboard

I seem to be going through a phase of needing help on several fronts at once.

For some reason our iPad's keyboard is showing as divided/split horizontally in two, with a gap in between. I haven't a clue how this has happened. One of us has obviously touched something. Help, please!
