Crucial MX500 or Samsung Evo 860, both 1TB SSDs.
My two best computers are similar spec and have these drives in them, both drives have high-90s % life left.
One of the computers is imminently going to be moved over to Windows 11 and Office 21 with a view to becoming my main computer. The other will remain Windows 10 and Office 2016 and might be useful if things don't go to plan.
Which one would you choose to become your main workhorse?

There is little to choose between them, both are good brands and both use 3-bit TLC NAND so endurance should be the same. The Samsung has fractionally better benchmarks, but in practice you're hardly likely to notice any difference in performance.

Both solid SSD's with DRAM + SLC cache and 5 year warranties - the 860 has just been replaced with the 870.

I've got an MX500 1TB as a D drive in my desktop in addition to a Sandisk 500GB C drive. No issues (so far... ).

Doesn't seem to be much between them but it looks as if the Samsung is slightly better for performance but whether it makes any real difference in use is debatable.

The drives will be pretty much indistinguishable. You said the PCs are similar spec? How similar, there may something there to drive the decision?
