I take it you mean a USB 3.0 to SSD / 2.5-Inch SATA I/II/III Hard Drive Adapter, like one of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B011M8YACM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00
I bought that one a while back and have had no problems with it, although I haven't given it much use....
P.S. If your PC has USB 3.1 they have that option too, although as SATA III is 6Gb/s I don't know if you'd notice much difference using a USB 3.1 (10Gb/s) vs 3.0 (5Gb/s) adapter.

Its USB at one end and sort of smaller/mini rounded USB at the other . Except it fits both ways up.

Ah, so it's not just a Samsung SSD but an external drive box that happens to have a Samsung SSD inside it.
If you post the name & model number of it folks can help you research the connection port(s).

There's Samsung SSD's available that are standalone devices, and not bare-drives in other boxes.
Here's an example with a USB-C connection at the SSD end -
Samsung T7 portable SSD -

I suspect Snorvey has something similar, but hopefully he can confirm...
EDIT - and I see he did just that as I was posting - it's a T5 standalone SSD similar to the above linked T7...
Cheers,

Re: Correct cable
The cables that come with a Samsung T5 are 3.2 gen 2 (10Gb) capable and the T5 socket is USB C. (I've got a T5.)
Just as an FYI it is also possible to get NVMe SSD's /enclosures these days that are Thunderbolt 4/USB 4 capable (40Gb)
and the easiest way to avoid problems is to buy the proper Thunderbolt specced cables as they will do all the protocols at full speed and so can be used for TB4/USB docking stations, display, power et al.
The downside is they cost more.
