I am not a current Linux user but the article didn't seen able to substantiate the claim of being more difficult. UEFI has never caused me issues with Linux. The only apparent problem was Bitlocker which isn't a showstopper you just turn off bitlocker although i have never ran drive encryption on a laptop which i actually owned (as opposed to an employer) perhaps i should have.

I do not expect that the regulars here will have serious problems, but Joe average certainly will. Installing Linux was dead easy before UEFI. I did have not had any real problems with UEFI on the two UEFI machines that I have tried, but it appears to be getting harder. I fear that we are heading towards a dystopia where all PCs are locked down, and you have to pay Microsoft a monthly subscription to use them.
