somehow....
.... I have managed to change the language on my mobile phone firefox browser to something else. I don't know what it is and I don't know how to change it back because I can't read the language.
I can read how to change the language back on our Google search but I can't figure out what their language means

Re: somehow....
Can you get into settings? Swipe down. The wheel, cog icon.
What does it say instead of "settings"?

Re: somehow....
Reminds me of the day I accidentally changed the screen resolution on my work laptop to one incompatible with the graphics card output. Result, blank screen.........
Sorry for the off topic comment. Hope you fix it.

I can get into the cog, but it's all gobbledygook. What I really need is someone with an android/firefox set up to tell me which bit to click. I shall carry on random clicking in the meantime...

This used to be a jolly jape when I first noticed mobile phones, your mates would change your phone to some unknown language then you'd not understand the settings in the new language to be able to turn them back. It was necessary to learn the steps without the words. Looks like this vid might help

I installed Firefox Fast & Private on my Pixel7 with Android 14 and the Language list is the 8th item in the cog menu. Does that help?

Don't forget the jolly jape on XP to invert the screen so that it was upside down. It was considered that useful that Microsoft did it on a keyboard shortcut!

Ah yes, when I worked in a school this was rife until the techs disabled it. [ctrl]+[alt] + cursor arrows.

Re: somehow....
This kind of thing is just a good challenge.
Today I managed to change the menu on a HP printer from Chinese to English just by looking up the menu options on the internet and assuming the Chinese & English would be in the same place.
After that, changing the menu from Chinese on an old PC monitor took slightly longer, as the only manual I could find was in Spanish

Re: somehow....
When somewhat-similar things have happened to me, I paste the foreign text into google translate and take it from there.
Probably the most challenging case was when a site turned Turkish on me - though in that case I could at least guess the language with reasonable confidence. There was another occasion when it was a cyrillic language, and in that case selecting several candidates in google (Russian, Belarusian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian) all gave me the same translation, so the question of which language I had was moot.

Re: somehow....
You can use things like MS/Google lens camera apps on phones to do live language translation of text - another reason to carry more than one phone in case of emergency...
