One of the disks in my ageing XP tower is screwed into the plastic thingy below, which slides into slots in the case on the rails shown at the side. I'd like to get another one of those plastic thingies so I can swap disks without having to unscrew/screw them from/to the plastic thingy each time, but I'm struggling to find the right search term for it. What are they called?
(I'm not looking for a "hot swap" solution. I'm OK with disconnecting & reconnecting the power and ATA cables each time. I just want another plastic thingy so I don't have to faff with screws...)

Re: What's this called....
I'd offer tray or caddy. We swapped HDD for SSD in machines where I worked and bought blue plastic thingies that I think the supplier called them tray caddies.

I thought of caddy and tray but I don't see anything to match. Be good to see one with a disk in it. Note that the rails at the side of mine clip on.

Any joy with any words associated with "drive trays" or "pc case mounting kits".........
Could it be manufacturer specific? Do you know the name/approx year?

Are there any numbers, SKU, part or other details on the thingy that you could speculatively pop into a search? I've found spare parts and components like that before.

Got it. It's not a tray or a caddy or anything to do with a specific disk interface, it's a ....
... 5.25" to 3.5" Front Bay Adapter! So you can slot in 3.5" drives into the standard ATX case 5.25" front bays.
E.g. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Akasa-2-5-3-5-5-25-Inch-Mounting/dp/B005ZWGEU8
The small holes on the side are where the rails clip in. My one's simpler than that Amazon one as it doesn't have a floor or a detachable front or the ability to carry 2.5" drives, just the front and two sides all as one piece (and it's generic, no identification on it of any kind). Right ... off to ebay ...
