I have a fairly new desktop PC.
If I put it to sleep rather than shutting down there is a blue light on the front that flashes. I wish to turn it off. Any idea where there would be an option to do that?

I very much doubt there's an option for this, it's a low-level hardware function. You could try using Hibernate instead of Sleep, there's no light shown for that. Either that or tape over the LED

Cheers chaps. Had considered the tape option. Why would that invalidate the warranty?
There is no hibernate option.
Frustrating - it's very bright.

If you have the OS on an SSD boot drive the difference between sleep/hibernate and shutdown isn't that great in my experience.
I think W10 uses a sort of hybrid hibernate anyway even on a shutdown/cold boot.
My cold boot is around 7 seconds currently.

That's odd - there usually is, though sometimes the way to enable it is obscure. What make and model is it? What OS are you using? Perhaps we can help.

It looks like hibernate is disabled by default. Instructions to enable hibernate in the above link. (via powercfg.cpl)

Pretty sure that 1nv35t meant that opening the PC (and disconnecting wiring) would invalidate the warranty. Just opening the case is probably OK - unless there's a sticker that says something like "Warranty void if opened) and you can't open the case without tearing the sticker. That's only a concern if you still have a warranty anyway.
Taping over the LED can't invalidate anything.

If anything it'll be a BIOS option to turn it off completely. You're not going to find something hardware like that in any OS settings. If you know the motherboard or manufacturer of the PC an internet search might help you find others who undoubtedly have a similar issue.
