Yahoo mail off line?

#649713

Postby scottnsilky » February 27th, 2024, 7:14 pm

For the past 3 hours I've been unable to get through to any new emails on my Yahoo account on this tablet. Touching the envelope picture gets me nowhere, just back to the same screen. I can get Yahoo UK website, but again the envelope gets me nowhere, although it does recognise its me.
I'd have thought I'd anyone else had this problem it would have been posted here already, but I thought I'd give it a go.
I haven't tried firing up the old laptop, it takes so long to get itself in the mood, but I'll try it later.
Anybody else having a problem?

Thanks for that Graham, I'll give them a try.

PS Edit, the two local big towns a big red exclamation mark, so it looks its quite widespread. Thanks

I have an old yahoo.com email address (which I don't use) and I just logged in and it worked fine.

I use .co.uk, but thanks for checking.

I'm not getting any notification emails for these postings.

https://twitter.com/YahooCare

Generally the X/twitter feeds for the major players support accounts are a good real time news source for any issues/outages.

I'm with yahoo.co.uk, a former btinternet account.

Earlier I couldn't open any emails older than a few weeks.

It has corrected itself now.

was this access via a web browser (https://mail.yahoo.com) or via an app?

FWIW I use a web browser and access has been fine all week/month/year/decade.

If its an app try deleting it and reinstalling it ?

Yeah, my app has stopped working (I use it to check 3 emails different accounts). It's a slight pain because now I have to use the individual apps (Gmail, Hotmail etc).

Accessing yahoo emails via my pc browser is fine.

Its an app I'm using, I don't know whether I could have deleted it, it just was inoperable, it is now working.
There was an article on Daily Mirror website, timed at 6.30am to say it was still down, that's about 15 hours of no service, still down at noon, but back to normal at 2pm.
I've had trouble with Yahoo email for years, not being down, just logging on. They tell me I'm using the wrong password when I'm 100% sure I've got it right. This is the position at the moment on my laptop but this tablet works OK.

Thanks for your interest and help.

Make sure any browser bookmarks have the latest login URL link, they do change them occasionally and if you go via an old link it will probably end up in a redirect which can cause issues like you've reported ( been there myself). I've seen explanations online that Yahoo were updating their infrastructure which led to the recent outage, I know they are strengthening their security settings to fight spammers this year - that was announced last year.

Make sure OS'/browsers/apps are up to date, there may be security protocols that get updated with the online services that older OS/browser/app software can't use which can result in access/login issues.

There are tutorials online that will show you how to clean up your browsers (cache/history/cookies etc) to reduce all the bloat that accumulates over the years and can slow them down.
