True Key - any good?

#7572

Postby zico » November 21st, 2016, 11:12 pm

I downloaded the latest version of Adobe but it also installed something called True Key on my machine, and asked me to create a password.
It wants me to respond to an email so I can use it, but I don't know anything about it, so haven't done that.

Is this useful and should I have it? (There's something on the email about having 15 free log-ins, so I'm guessing I'll have to pay for it if I'm not careful)

Well it is a password manager http://www.tomsguide.com/us/true-key,review-3779.html and has some good reviews.
But if it were me, anything that is foist upon me when I install a programme by choice is regarded as malware.

For reading PDFs I moved away from Adobe a while back, due to the sheer size of it and now use Sumatra which is lean and very fast.

I agree with Slarti.

Uninstall Adobe Acrobat using the free version of Revo Uninstaller

http://www.revouninstaller.com/start_fr ... nload.html

and replace it with Sumatra

Agree with the above - we use Sumatra across all our network as Adobe is just a bloated insecure mess basically - both the firm and their software.

The free NitroPDF reader gives a bit more functionality if you require to do more than just read pdf documents.

This also maybe needed, as very occasionally you may find that a pdf won't appear in Sumatra - this tends to happen with the more complicated interactive form based pdf's - often ones originating from local government/county councils I find.
