Planning amusement

Local Authorities love hiding their contact details - they call it "demand management".

So Shropshire planning is pretty good at hiding the phone number once you are in the maze of subpages, including planning and pre-planning.
We want pre planning as we have a few choices for design of an upstairs extension - box dormer, chickets, reprofile roof slop with different tiles, etc and have found in the past Exeter are VERY funny about this.

So we downloaded the form, https://www.shropshire.gov.uk/planning/ ... uest-form/ printed it out, found a map of (roughly) the correct scale, wrote a cheque for the fee, and then tried to send it to the address on the form. Sadly this was an email address. Whilst that should be fine for the form and the plan, I suspect they'll struggle cashing the cheque.

I'm beginning to think pre-planning is not often used in Shropshire.

My bank, so I'm pretty sure most others do to, have a paying in cheques by photo option, just attach a jpeg of the cheque for the fee to the e-mail address. If it doesn't work it might get them to contact you to offer a postal address.
Or perhaps you'll get a bounce back saying the email is invalid.

Sure the form is badly worded but took seconds to find out how to pay and a physical address - https://www.shropshire.gov.uk/planning/ ... plication/

Yes, but as I said, once in the planning pages that disappears.

And the form is supplied on Micro$oft doc format. I thought people stopped doing that around 2003?

Don't know what is going on with your machine but the 'Menu' in the top left is still there when I look at the planning page - https://www.shropshire.gov.uk/planning/

Indeed, and we now have "Staines-on-Thames". How weird does that seem? And why does it grate so badly?
