Oops. Washing machine conundrun
I have a built in front loading Miele W-series washing machine. I took out the filter to clean it, but forgot to put it back in. Closed the door, started cycle... Beep!
Now it is telling me to turn off the stopcock. No idea how to access that (machine is built in and not easily removeable).
Also now can't open the door to reinsert the filter.
Have seen a trick for opening the door manually, but that requires access through the filter hatch, which is hidden behind the door facing, which is locked shut as it is attached to the door.
Argh!
Can anyone suggest a way out of this Catch-22?
I have tried turning off the water to the house but that doesn't seem to improve things.

On our Miele, there is yellow tool stored behind the top left detergent tray in a clip.
This unclips the filter door by inserting the tool at the top of the filter door.

Yes, I've seen that. The trouble is that I can't get to the filter door because there is a panel on the door as part of the machine being built-in. That only opens with the machine door, which is locked. Hence the Catch-22. I need to open the door to get to the part that opens the door.

Does this help?

Unfortunately not. because of the panel at the front of the machine, which is attached to the door, I can't access the filter panel.

Ewww ... sounds as if the panel will have to be removed?
Have you tried turning the water supply under the sink off? Might work? Long shot? There's usually a valve which is turned through 90 degrees to the water supply for the washing machine.

Re: Oops. Washing machine conundrun
Looks like you may have the waterproof system (WPS) with a double-solenoid valve that stops the flow of water directly at the stopcock in the event of a leak.
Possible that it re-sets mechanically when you remove the water pressure.
Try turning off the stop cock and then opening the cold tap with no mains connected to the Miele.
Can you post a picture of your built-in door?
If it is a fully-integrated model, there should be an 'emergency door release'.

Re: Oops. Washing machine conundrun
Not that I know what I'm taking about but when supremetwo talks of turning off the stop cock it presumably wouldn't matter how the pressure was released. So either a local 90-degree-style isolating valve or the main stop-cock affecting the entire house would probably do.James wrote:...

Is the door like this?

Is there a small flap below the bottom of the door?

It's similar, but a much older model. The only flap below the door is for the filter drain, and that is only visible because the kickboard is missing.
The circular glass door is attached to an external metal panel, which is screwed onto the kitchen fascia.

Slot in the filter drain rear with screwdriver access to the door release catch?

You absolute star!! That was the instruction I was looking for.
Thanks so much. I knew someone here would have the knowledge.
(The machine came with the house but without any instructions, and my googling failed to find this).
