Hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO)

This is not really a building matter but here goes anyway.

I have an old oil fired boiler which still works fine. My oil supplier has just sent an email telling me about trials which are currently underway to replace the kerosene/oil with HVO, cleaner and greener apparently. No word on price as yet. My boiler could be converted at a cost of around £500 I am told. I will ask the guy who services it annually what he thinks I should probably replace it I should think rather than convert it.

Does anyone have any views on this? They have asked for the usual survey and I have said that I am in principal interested. They hope to have it available in 2022.

Mike, our very own Boilerman, would disappoint me if he didn't have a view on this. Watch this space Doddy-baby. ;) Chris
