LONDON SOCIAL- confirmed: Thursday 30th March
LEMON FOOL LONDON SOCIAL
There will be an informal gathering of Lemon Fools (and friends) near Regent St/Oxford Circus on the 30th March. All welcome ! It’s a social evening rather than being ‘investment focused’, although we do occasionally discuss investing….
*******
When: Thursday 30 March 2017. 'After work' to closing time (11pm)
Where: The Clachan, 34 Kingly Street, London W1B 5QH
https://www.nicholsonspubs.co.uk/restau ... reetlondon
*******
Directions:
Oxford Circus tube is the closest. On exiting the tube, head SOUTH down Regent St towards Piccadilly Circus. Take the second left after about 600ft (a short amble) into Gt Marlborough St. Almost immediately on your right, before the mock Tudor façade of Liberty London, is an archway which is Kingly Street (more alley than street). The Clachan is on the left a short distance down .
If you get lost ask for directions to Liberty.
How to find the Fools.
Assuming I can make it, I’ll try to remember to printout some Lemon Fool logos or similar for prominent display. It might be useful if other attendees could do the same, in case I get stuck in Reading or something. We normally congregate in the rear section of the pub and outside near the side door if the weather is clement. It is quite a busy pub, but there’s normally space in the back and it does thin out a bit as the evening progresses and the after work crowd head home
Food:
If you need food get something on the way, or order in the Clachan. They have a pretty reasonable menu and food in Nicholson’s pubs is normally good. You might have trouble finding a table though.
EMERGENCY PLAN B----
If the Clachan is closed due to unforeseen circumstances (fire, flood, locusts) I suggest a retreat to The Blue Posts (18 Kingly St) which is a short way beyond the Clachan on the left. No idea what it’s like, but it’s a pub. I will try to post ON THIS BOARD if we have to change venue [unlikely]
(I have shamefully copied a lot of the above from my last TMF Social post... let me know if there are any errors or inconsistencies)
See you there I hope!

Re: LONDON SOCIAL- confirmed: Thursday 30th March
I'm pretty sure that's the pub I used to frequent during a holiday job at Hamleys toy shop, about a million years ago. I was in the "age four to nine" section. If you were in that age group in the early 1970's and went there with your parents. I was the chap outside Santa's grotto controlling admission, moving people along and trying to look festive and jolly. Funnily enough, the actual Santa was a miserable bastard.

I shall hold a glass containing clear liquid, ice and, crucially, lemon. Therefore I will be easy to spot.
(plus I look like Velma Dinkley)

"After work", is a bit vague for some of us for whom regular work is a distant memory. What time are we talking?

Sorry I won't be able to come. I have other things on at the end of next week. I will make the effort in the future.
Hope you have fun.

I may well come, train to City Thameslink and 23 bus to Regent Street. Maybe there by 6.30-6.45. Short, portly, balding elderly person with glasses on nose and in hand.

Re: LONDON SOCIAL- confirmed: Thursday 30th March
Ha ha, well spotted old bean! That's in Mayfield near me. In my, now almost desperate, bid to find a pub that consistently has Dark Star's Hophead on tap I have for some time been calling in to plenty of pubs "in vicino" so to speak. So far the nearest to my home is 19 miles away in Wrotham.PinkDalek wrote:I this the alternative Friday pub?

Re: LONDON SOCIAL- confirmed: Thursday 30th March
I've bought my train ticket. My intended train (but I have flexibility on my train to London) gets into Euston at 18:34. So I guess I might be there about 7pm?
I could wear my lemon yellow polo shirt! However, you might not necessarily see it under any jumpers or coats I might be wearing!

I doubt you'll need a jumper...

See you later, assuming my cold doesn't get worse.

Too late! But my yellow polo shirt isn't available anyway. I shall be carrying a black coat covered in cat hair and wearing a grey and white polo shirt.

No substitute volleyball coach avaiable unfortunately so I wish you all a very pleasant evening and look forward to the next one (hopefully not on a Thursday? - mind you the season peters out over summer so as long as we don't wait until September I'm up for it).
Cheers,
Chris
