"HOW MUCH?" as I said to the nice barmaid. "YOU'RE 'AVIN A LARF "

London prices...probably cheaper than the gin and tonic that someone didn't drink though!

John

Sorry! :(

(I didn't really understand what was going on with that?)

Anyway, I am one of tonight's 8 (I voted twice) and I am not going*, so that's 7.....

I've made that mistake in the past but not this time. If I've miscounted, my apologies to the 15th!

Was it Bink333 (who'd cast his vote within the 15)? ;)

Bink!

A great evening. I made it to Victoria in time for the intended train, only to find that it had all gone pear-shaped. Trouble between Brighton and Haywards Heath, apparently. Anyway I caught an East Grinstead train to East Croydon and changed to Thameslink there, getting back about half an hour behind schedule.

Now at our daughter's for the weekend.

Nice to put some faces to names. I've forgotten a lot of them already, but AC and the fish are firmly fixed in my memory, as is Mel.

Oddly enough the date poll had 15 votes for Thursday - first time ever a poll has been spot on ?!

I didn't vote but turned up anyway!
It was great to meet you all and put some faces to names.

Either of these would be treading on the toes of the Scottish socials, so I suggest:

https://www.landmarktrust.org.uk/lundyi ... co-tavern/

Sells a fine pint of Old Light.

Hello everyone,
that was fun, thanks for arranging it everyone. It was good to see everyone again, and it did seem like a big turnout! There was a good range of topics stuff I remember being talked about, some fascinating: cars, work, Eastern Europe, FTSE 250 shares, financial scams, pensions, tax, London, the Foolish community.

I made my 2230 train with plenty of time to spare. I had thought on the way down my Oyster card had been de-activated from not being used or was just out of cash, but the machine in Oxford Circus told me I had just over £50 on it! So no need to walk to Euston! My train arrived in Coventry at 0016 and I was in bed by about 1am.

Would have been nice to stay longer, but had to be up for work this morning. One day I'll find a way to stay longer.

Definitely worth the £31 train ticket, the free bus ride down because the Oyster card didn't work, whatever the tube ride back cost, and the £7 pasty and potato wedges at Euston!

Regards
sgc
PS. I was, however, slightly disoriented by the various haircuts and beard growths. But the lemon flag was a good decision!

It wasn't too cold on Friday morning. Any idea when we weren't chucked out? I think I was struggling with escalators (no Dalek jokes needed there) well past midnight. Does that mean there was a Social on the Friday after all?

Anyway, the 'Patriot' I mentioned is described below. Well worth watching but one does need to concentrate.

https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radi ... spy-comedy

The Observer calls it '... a Gleefully Deranged, Dark Comedy Thriller'.

I think we "weren't chucked out" at about midnight.

The Patriot looks excellent, I love Fargo so it should be right up my street. ( Funny thing is, I have no recollection of you mentioning it on Thursday!)

Count me in for the real summer Foolfest though. I may find a bed for the night in London so I can stay out late this time.

Hopefully we will have a 'summer' Social - perhaps June, before the main holiday season ?
All suggestions welcome!

How about the George inn Southwark - the only remaining galleried coaching inn.
I appreciate this is better for those who can easily get to south London, but that issue exists wherever you pick.

I used to work near The George - nice place, but less easy to get to for people coming in from the north/west unless they are arriving at Moorgate
