I've only just seen this while looking for something else, as this isn't a board I normally visit.

However, I just felt I should mention that you need to be aware of the Limitation Act, which means that you normally only have 6 years in which to recover a debt, so you may wish to check whether there is any danger of the unpaid loans falling foul of this.

A resurrection of this topic (I am langley59 reincarnated).

So for the past several years following the thread above I have been happily submitting accounts and tax return online free of charge for my still near dormant company, which still has some loan assets not yet fully written off and still pays me an annual dividend from its reserves.

I have now received a letter from HMRC stating that this online filing service is closing from 31/03/26 and I will then presumably have to use commercial software or re-employ my accountant to do this, both of which will incur a cost disproportionate to the activity and capital levels of the company.

I wondered how others might be intending to approach this problem?

NB. Ironically the HMRC letter has a footnote about protecting yourself from scams...

Is there any way to generate iXBRL data without having to fork out for an accounting package?
Then the next question would be "Is there a standalone method to manually upload iXBRL data to HMRC and Companies House?"
