I'm currently employed and receiving the marriage allowance as my wife does not work.
In the new tax year commencing April, I'll be retiring and will draw on state pension plus a small private pension.
Will I have to give up the marriage allowance which means we will both revert to a personal tax allowance of £12,500 each? Thanks.

Re: Marriage Allowance after Retirement
It would depend on whether or not you remain a basic rate taxpayer (and from what you say your income will be less than it is now, so I’d assume so):

I can’t see any reason why you shouldn’t still be entitled (assuming you have taxable income > than the personal allowance) but why not try the calculator:

" Your partner’s annual income must be between £12,501 and £50,000. "

Unsure what your point is but isn’t that the same as “(assuming you have taxable income > than the personal allowance)” ?
