Capital losses and VCTs
Is there any way of getting relief against other capital gains, or income, for losses sustained in a venture capital trust?

Re: Capital losses and VCTs
No.
This is because any income was paid tax-free and most drop in capital value of a VCT is because of the dividends paid out.
Contrast with the EIS scheme, which does allow capital losses to be offset, but has taxable dividends.
You don't get both.
And of course you've had a large wedge of tax relief when you bought the shares originally.
There is a limit to taxpayer largesse.
